CLOSING THE CARE GAP
The care gap amongst the vulnerable is huge and Meru Hospice is ready and committed to fill this void through
1.Medical support
Through our program patients get drugs and supplementary medication for free. Over the recent past, the financial constraints facing the organization led to the adoption of a cost-sharing model with the patients where they pay a small fee of KES 500.
The organization host palliative care nurses seconded by the county government of Meru who offer specialist care for free .
We also offer nutritional support to patients as the right nutrition is important for effective treatment.
2.Psychosocial Support.
Psychosocial support is important in the management and care of any chronic illness and there is enough evidence that bit improves health outcomes.
Meru Hospice offers psychosocial; support to patients and their families through counselling sessions, home visits and day care sessions.
We also encourage, promote, initiate and support formation of support groups among patients.
